Advanced Retroperitoneal Laparoscopic Surgery

All CGS doctors are Advanced Retroperitoneal Laparoscopic Surgeons (ARLS). True ARLS surgeons are those physicians who have completed a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery, and during their training mastered very specialized techniques such as Retroperitoneal Dissection and Extended Procedures. There are currently very few fellowship programs nationally or internationally that incorporate both Retroperitoneal and Extended procedures as part of the training program.  These procedures allow a well trained ARLS surgeon to complete almost any surgery laparoscopically. Examples for CGS include removal of the worlds largest uterus laparoscopically (20#), myomectomy (fibroid removal) from uteri of all sizes, large pelvic masses (30 cm), and extremely complex cases of endometriosis. In addition, these techniques also allow CGS surgeons to operate on all patients, including those with many prior surgeries, obese patients, and patients with medical conditions that will greatly benefit from a minimally invasive approach. There is no screening at CGS – all patients are candidates for minimally invasive surgery. Retroperitoneal and Extended procedures lead to a success rate of greater than 99% for completing the procedures laparoscopically, and result in the lowest complication rates in the worlds published literature.
